Does God Feel Sad When She Sees Us Struggling?
Last week, when I dropped Ella off at pre-school, there was a letter in her cubby from the Adapted Physical Education Teacher. She had done an assessment of Ella’s gross motor skills to track the progress she is making with her delayed left side. The assessment listed her progress in specific skill areas and gave an overall “ranking.”
At 39-months Ella’s gross motor skills are at a 21-month level. While I am well aware of Ella’s physical delay and have read various assessments in the past, there was something about this one that caused a deep sadness to well up from within me.
For some reason, I was particularly struck by the description of Ella’s jumping skills. The contrast between my perception of Ella’s attempts to jump – adorable, focused, vibrant – and the clinical terms used in the assessment – “Ella is unable to jump off the ground at this time, but she is showing emergence of this skill.” – struck me right in the heart and the tears began to flow.
I have witnessed this deep sadness in other parents and I know that I have at times been the source of this sadness for my own parents. This sadness, however, is not limited to parents of children with disabilities. It is the deep sadness that comes from watching your child – or anyone you love – struggle. It is a sadness and sense of helplessness that comes from the desire to make everything all right for your child when there is nothing that you can do.
As I drove towards my office, heart broken open, I began to wonder how God/Source/The Universe feels when she/he/it sees us struggling and living far below our potential.
It has been postulated that most of us are accessing and utilizing a mere 5-10% of our potential. If God were to have an assessment done on any of us we would certainly fall well below the “baseline” level of our potential.
Does God cry when seeing this?
My guess is no. God doesn’t strike me as one who gets caught in the trap of attachment. I believe that God sees through our struggles and into our essence. God sees our light, our full potential, shining brightly even when we don’t see it ourselves. God knows that our struggles provide the most potent opportunities to explore our self-created limitations and expand our expression of who we are.
God doesn’t get caught up in wondering what he can do to make it better. He knows that everything is perfect. Including each and every one of us!
God doesn’t wonder if she made a mistake when she created these beings (us) with limitless potential only to see them floundering to access even a tiny fraction of their power. She knows that it is through our struggles that we will, eventually, access our limitless potential.
There are times, quite often, actually, when I hold that Divine perception of Ella and see the incredible light that shines from her eyes: When I watch the intensity that she brings to her playing and learning. When I see her struggling to do things that her peers do easily. When I feel the uninhibited tenderness as she sits with me in the rocking chair and lays her head on my chest. When she gets frustrated and says, “Need help Dada,” and I encourage her to try it again. I even can hold the Divine perception of her (usually) in those moments when she connects fully with her frustration and sadness and expresses it freely.
In those moments, when I see her light, her full potential, I don’t get caught up in thinking that she is less than perfect, less than whole. I don’t look at her as a number on a scale or compare her with anyone else. I don’t wonder if I did anything “wrong” or if I somehow contributed to her disability.
But when I read that assessment, I could not stop myself from going to that place of wondering, of attachment, of deep sadness that Ella is not accessing her full potential. I got caught up in the clinical rankings and began comparing Ella and basing my perception of her on that comparison.
This experience reminded me just how tenuous our hold is on Divine perception. Our ability to see the full potential within everyone is easily shaken by our perception of the “real” physical world.
As we make our way up the vibrational scale of the Law of Attraction and move forward on our path of personal evolution, the consistency with which we hold others in the place of Divine perception can provide a valuable feedback mechanism.
Begin to pay attention to the place from which you are perceiving those around you. Are you focusing on their light or their darkness? Are you seeing their perfection or their problems? Are you appreciating their presence in your life or blaming them for what is wrong with your life?
The choice of how you perceive those around you is not always easy but it is always yours to make.
Remember that what you focus on expands in your life. If you focus on the darkness in those around you, you attract more darkness into your life. If you focus on people’s problems, you attract more problems into your own life.
If you want more joy in your life, focus on the joy you see in others. If you want more peace, focus on the peace you see in others.
I know that Ella is getting the best possible care for her condition and I recognize that she will continue to be assessed and evaluated. And while I don’t agree with the underlying concept of assessment, I accept that it is part of the system within which Ella will receive her care.
What I do know is that I will continue to hold as fully as possible onto my Divine perception of Ella. I will continue to see her perfection, her light and the joy she brings to this world. And I will hold onto the knowledge that her physical struggle is providing a powerful opportunity for her to expand her perception and expression of who she truly is.
Law Of Attraction Carnival #13 – The LoA And Physical Health
Welcome to the 13th edition of The Law of Attraction Carnival. This may be the best edition yet! We’ve got great entries on all aspects of the LoA as well as a few superb articles on this month’s topic – The Law of Attraction and Physical Health.
Physical health and the Law of Attraction is a topic that causes some people to get defensive. If we are creating our reality – as the Law of Attraction posits – that means we are creating our state of physical well-being, or lack thereof.
I have observed that even more than with the topic of money and finance, the are of physical health and the idea that we are in control of our state of health, holds a deep charge for many people.
If we accept the premise of the LoA it means that we must accept every illness, injury and disease that finds its way into our body originated in our thoughts, feelings and vibrational offering.
This can be quite uncomfortable. However, if we can get past the discomfort and begin to take responsibility for our physical health, the results can be truly dramatic.
Take a look at these featured entries for some insightful thoughts about the Law of Attraction and physical health, and watch for more entries on this topic in the future.
Featured Entries:
Let’s begin the Featured Entries section with 3 Keys to Better Health with the Law of Attraction by Aaron Potts at Today Is That Day. Aaron has this to say: “So, if everything is energy, and we can control the vibration of our energy, then we can use the Law of Attraction to bring into our existence only the vibrations that we wish to have – including those that are consistent with vibrant, long-term health.”
Next up is long-time Law of Attraction Carnival contributor Raymond David Salas of Zen Chill with How to Heal Yourself. Raymond reminds us that the key to healing ourselves is “allowing your well-being (which is already present) to express itself.”
Next is Drew Rozell a newcomer to the carnival, but certainly no newcomer to the Law of Attraction! Drew brings us LOA, Addiction, Feeling & Health an insightful look at the connection between, addiction, feelings, health and the LoA. Drew asks: “Why is feeling important? When we live life without feeling fully, we are stuck in the reaction mode responsible for addictive behavior. The old adage is true: “What you resist persists.” In other words, when we fail to feel fully, the energy pattern associated with the feeling stays stuck in the body.”
And finally we have Vicki Link with Healing through the Law of Attraction. Vicki points out that “The present moment is the accumulation of every thought, perception, desire, and belief you’ve had, but it does NOT have to determine your future experiences. The next moment is undecided and filled with every possibility. Your future can be whatsoever you desire it to be, if you hold an intent & belief which are congruent with that vision.”
If you would like your entry to be considered for a Featured Entry spot, you must submit an article that focuses on the Carnival topic. The next edition will focus on the movie, The Secret. For more details visit the Law of Attraction Homepage.
And now on to the rest of our entries for this edition of the Law of Attraction Carnival. Enjoy!

Reduce Tension By Thinking Tall And Loose
For the past few days I’ve been noticing a bit of tension in my jaw. I don’t think the tension is new. Rather, I think the awareness of the tension is new.
For much (most) of my life, I have carried tension in that area – jaw, neck, and shoulders. In the past, I would not become aware of the tension until it became acute and painful. Now, as I continue to deepen my awareness of my inner state – thoughts, feelings, beliefs – I find that my awareness of the state of my body is naturally heightened and I am noticing the tension in the early stages.
So noticing this tension is not a bad thing. If you want to change something you must be aware of it first.
I find it interesting though not surprising that this awareness has blossomed after reading the post Look Like A Million Dollars on Noel Kingsley’s blog.
Noel writes:
In order to maintain your proper slim shape, you should free your neck and ‘send’ your head upwards. Do this by thinking only. Also think of your back lengthening. Your body is very springy and it’s more than likely that your full height is taller than you normally experience. The important thing is that you don’t make physical effort to achieve this as you will only get stiff. Think loose and tall as often as you can. You are tapping into the natural instinct you have for good poise that you’ve had from birth.
It’s impossible for me to “think loose and tall” and continue to carry the tension in my jaw. I’ve been practicing this technique whenever I catch myself holding some tension in that area. I’ll stop and breath into my jaw, neck and shoulders. I’ll pull my head back slightly so that it is resting comfortably above my shoulders and I’ll imagine my head being gently pulled upwards like a hot air balloon tugging on its tethers.
This technique is especially helpful to me when I am sitting at my desk for a long stretch. I’ll catch myself beginning to hunch forward and compress down towards my keyboard. Remembering to think loose and tall helps restore a more supportive posture.
So if you want to feel more relaxed, reduce tension and maybe even gain a bit of height, remember to think loose and tall.
Simpleology 103 Preview
Yesterday, Mark Joyner just sent out an announcement to Simpleology members that Simpleology 103: The Simple Science of Energy, will be available in mid-January.
It’s been a long time in the making, but if it’s anywhere near as powerful as Simpleology 101 and 102 it will have been well worth the wait.
Here is Mark’s little teaser for 103:
Simpleology 103 is coming – very soon.
Meanwhile, here is a little teaser …
My friend Tellman was on the brink of utter exhaustion.
This tasteless, odorless, legal white powder (that you can find
easily almost anywhere) made him “jacked” full of energy. He said, “it was like flipping a switch!”
Athletes “in the know” swear by it.
What is it?
You have to read the report I prepared for you:
He’s good, isn’t he?
I can’t give you any more details here, but if you want to learn more about the upcoming release, head on over and sign up for instant free access to Simpleology 101. I promise you that it has the power to change your life.
Conditioning 1. Deliberate Creation 0
Three-days coming. Three-days here. Three-days gone.
Did you ever hear that phrase about colds when you were growing up? I must have. And I must have heard it enough, or from someone with enough authority to cause it to become part of my conditioning.
By conditioning I mean that it was acting from a pre-conscious place within my mind. So, while I was not consciously aware that I believed colds last 9-days, hidden down in my conditioned belief system, the recording, “Three-days coming. Three-days here. Three-days gone.” was playing in the background. And that recording, that conditioned belief, made it very difficult for colds to end in less than 9-days.
Saturday night, as I was soaking in a hot bath, attempting to deliberately create my way back to well-being, that phrase popped, out of nowhere, into my awareness. Well, out of nowhere is not the best way of saying it. I’m well aware of where it popped out of…my unconscious mind.
And the only reason it popped from my unconscious mind to my conscious awareness is because, for the past 8-days, I have been so focused on deliberately creating well being.
In our work to become Deliberate Creators, our biggest obstacle and challenge comes from our conditioning. Part of the problem, a big part of the problem really, is that the vast majority of our beliefs and thoughts are based on conditioning.
Our conditioning influences how we think about certain people, including their race, their religion, their class, their clothing, etc. It influences what we think is possible or impossible. Our conditioning tells us what careers, hobbies, activities “people like us” pursue. And conditioning plays a very powerful role in determining how long it takes and even if we can return to a state of well being from injury and illness.
In the quest for deliberate creation, conditioning is the clear nemesis.
So even if you don’t win the with your conditioning on a physical, manifestation level, – as with this cold – just becoming conscious of what was previously unconscious conditioning is, in itself, a major victory!
I’ll be the first to admit that it’s fun to see the positive results of your Deliberate Creation. It would have been great to intend well-being back into my body Monday night and wake up Tuesday morning fully recovered! But becoming aware of this childhood programming that colds last for 9-days is a truly great thing.
Anytime you bring aspects of your unconscious conditioning into your conscious awareness you have taken a great step forward on the path of deliberate creation. So even if you do not see the physical manifestation, when you have an “aha” moment and realize why you have been manifesting some “unwanted” experience over and over, give yourself a big pat on the back.
And just in case you’re counting, today is day eight. So theoretically, if my conditioning continues to win this round, tomorrow should be the last day of this cold!
Holosync Update – Day 24: A New Discovery
Actually, I’ve made two new discoveries since the last update. First, I realized how effective The Dive is at winding me down in the evening. I’ve been noticing, with the number of projects I’m working on right now, that my mind is having a hard time slowing down at night. Even on evenings that I am physically tired, my brain keeps churning, making it difficult to get to sleep.
A few nights ago, I decided to use The Dive – the first 30-minute recording – before bed to see how it would affect my ability to sleep. It worked wonders! The slow descent into a Theta brainwave helped quiet my mind and get me into a great space for sleeping.
So, while I’m not using it every night before bed, when I feel that my brain is on overdrive while my body is running on empty, I listen to the Dive and find it very helpful.
I’m not sure how I would define the second discovery: An aid in releasing resistance to growth, perhaps. Although, I suppose that’s really what the Holosync program (aff) is all about. But the experience I had last night was more about releasing acute resistance. Let me explain.
I’m blessed with a body that clearly lets me know when I am cut off from Source or resisting an opportunity for personal growth and evolution. Usually I pay attention to those physical signals and act on the message, i.e. let go of the resistance, before the symptoms become too strong.
Sometimes I don’t!
Yesterday was one of those days. Throughout the entire day, I was clearly feeling the symptoms of resistance. And, throughout the entire day, I was doing my best to ignore them. By the time evening rolled around, I could feel my body heading into its shutdown mode. That’s what my body says, “Look buddy, I’ve been sending you these signals all day/week/month and you haven’t been listening. Well, guess what, now you’ve got no choice!”
Thankfully, shut down mode doesn’t happen very often. I tend to listen to my body’s signals most of the time. But when I don’t listen and shutdown mode clicks in, it begins with a dull headache, physical fatigue, and a loss of appetite. If I don’t deal with it in the beginning stage, it grows into what would probably qualify as a migraine headache, extreme physical fatigue and nausea. It literally becomes impossible – or extremely difficult – to continue functioning on a physical level. And at that point sleep is the only solution.
Sleep allows me to release the resistance I am holding. From a personal growth and evolution standpoint, sleep is probably not the optimal solution. (Although I do some pretty good personal evolution work in a sleep state). Consciously choosing to release the resistance before I got to that point of shut down would clearly be more powerful. But when I have reached that level of physical fatigue and pain, consciously releasing the resistance becomes much more difficult.
All of that is a long way of bringing me to my new discovery about the holosync. Last night I put Ella to bed at 8:30 and, feeling like I was heading pretty quickly towards shutdown mode, planned to go to sleep along with her. While I dozed for the next few hours, I was unable to drop into a deep healing sleep, and by 11:15, when Melissa came to bed, I had entered full shutdown mode.
Now it’s one thing to say that the only choice is sleep, it’s another thing to access sleep when you’re head is pounding. Past experience has shown that when I’m in full shutdown mode, sleep can take anywhere from thirty to ninety minutes to access. I was definitely not looking forward to the next thirty to ninety minutes.
And then I got a very clear message that I should try the Holosync Solution (aff). So I did. I went downstairs, climbed into the glide rocker, turned on the holosync recording and immediately experienced a dramatic increase in the intensity of my headache.
Not a good sign. I almost abandoned the plan. But then I got another message giving me the hint that the Holosync would amplify whatever I was focused on. Focus on the pain, more pain. Focus on releasing resistance, less resistance, less pain.
With that awareness, I felt immediate relief from the pain. I focused on a feeling of deep peace and very quickly found the headache fading away.
It must have worked because the next thing I remember was waking up just about an hour later as the Immersion recording was coming to an end. The headache was gone, and I was centered in a place of deep peace and ready to go back upstairs for a few more hours of healing sleep.
How Will You Spend Your Dash?
Well Steve Johnson, at the Fast Lane, has again turned me on to a great link. It’s a quick little movie that is well worth the three minutes it takes to watch. Go check out The Dash.
Holosync Update – Day 15
Today is my fifteenth day using the Holosync Solution and my first, official, day listening to both The Dive and Immersion. I cheated on Sunday and listened to Immersion.
Here’s what’s been happening since the last update.
From Saturday through Monday morning I seemed to hit a bump in the road. I felt a bit scattered. My overall energy level was significantly lower than usual. In fact, on Sunday, after I cheated and listened to both recordings, instead of getting up, I laid down on the coach until my daughter awoke.
I also had an interesting physical symptom during that time: A major lump in my throat and constriction in my solar plexus. Clearly, my 3rd and 5th chakras were activated and asking for some attention.
While the Holosync probably enhanced the experience, I believe the activation came from the curriculum I taught at the Law of Attraction class last Thursday evening. It was all about getting into your heart and begnning to manifest from a place of compassion and universal, unconditional love. I even mentioned during the class that the students should be aware of resistance to this shift that might come up from the other chakras.
I’m pretty sure that’s what was happening with me.
Early Monday morning I went for a nice hike and that seemed to help me snap out of it.
My time in meditation with the Holosync has been interesting. For the past few days I have noticed an increase in the amount of mind chatter during my meditations. However, I have clearly been in a fairly deep trance state – even with the chatter – since every morning I have been surprised by the change in the recording indicating that five-minutes remain.
And every morning I have wanted to continue the meditation beyond the thirty minutes. That is an unusual experience for me. Even when I was meditating on a daily basis, it was a rare occurrence that I would want to meditate for more than thirty-minutes.
My experience this morning, however, was a bit different. The chatter was very noticeable and I found it difficult to enter that deep state of meditation. While the hour did not feel overly long, I was clearly aware of the time passing. I will be interested to see how long it takes for this chattering mind to calm down.
In addition to the morning meditation, I have used one of the bonus recordings, either Making Change Easy, and Super-Longevity, several afternoons. I find that these thirty-minute recordings are much better afternoon pick-me-ups than a cup of chai. These recordings help me drop very quickly and easily into a deeply relaxed state, and I come out of the meditation refreshed and ready to jump back into my work.
Overall, my state of well-being is well above what I would consider my normal state. Even waking up at 5:00am every morning, I feel energized throughout the day and have been going to bed at my usual time, an occasionally staying up quite late. (Late for me is past 11:00pm).
One very noticeable change is the awakening of my creativity. Again, while I believe the Holosync has something to do with this, I believe that my immersion into the blogging world, as well as the content of the classes I am currently teaching are major contributors to this awakening.
I find that my creative mind is working constantly. It has been, literally, impossible to write fast enough to keep up with the ideas that are flowing into my awareness. Most of the time this is a great thing.
However, I am becoming aware of the need to downshift at times. Certainly, before bed I need to make a concerted effort to calm my creative mind. There have been several nights when my mind has been so active, sharing wonderfully creative ideas with me, that it has taken an hour or more to fall asleep. And that is very unusual for me.
I’m going to start giving myself a fifteen – thirty minute meditation or simple wind-down period before bed. And I am definitely going to turn the computer off at least thirty minutes before bed.
Overall I am quite pleased with my Holosync experience thus far. I am curious to see what happens over the next few days with a full 60-minute morning meditation. I will most definitely keep you posted.
How to Beat Blogger’s Butt and Other Annoying Side Effects
Lifehacker just turned me on to this great post on How to Exercise While Sitting At Your Computer over at WikiHow.com. Most of the advice is common sense, but even so, it’s always good to be reminded.
And there are a few surprise suggestions, such as:
Don’t sit still. Fidgeting is a good way to keep moving. Even something like tapping your foot. But don’t make too much noise–however you fidget, the repetitive noises may bother other people.
These tips are so good, I’m going to print them out and put them on my desk beside my computer. That way I might avoid the dreaded Blogger’s Butt Syndrome!
