Wow. This celebration in honor of the Law of Attraction Carnival’s one-year anniversary is off to a great start. Thanks to all of you who have joined us here for this party. I’m amazed and honored by the quality of prizes that people continue to offer for the celebration. If you have not already seen the first round of prizes, go check out the official party announcement.

Right now I’d like to let you know about the new, incredible prizes that have come in since the start of the party.

The Secret Ring has donated a The Secret Ring offers a two day Attract Serenity Getaway at their Resort in Guerneville CA. This package includes: 1 private studio (occupancy two) and 2 pediSpas and it’s available October thru July. Package value: $386.00 (does not include gratuities)

I can’t think of a better way to attract serenity into your life. My wife is a bit upset that “employees of Evolving Times and their families are not eligible to win contest prizes!”

Please note that you will have to make your own travel arrangements.

If you win this prize, be sure to stop by and say hello on way out to Guerneville. This beautiful resort is just about 20-minutes from my home here in wine country!

Also, Debbie Murray, The Secret Ring founder and CEO will be doing a special interview. The topic will be, “Building extraordinary wealth starts in the mind – how to think and act like the richest man/women in the world.”

Intuition Medicine

And from Francesca McCartney, the founder and director of the Academy of Intuition Medicine and Energy Medicine University comes two copies of her Book and 8 CD audio series, Intuition Medicine: The Science of Energy.

I’m also very excited that I’ll be doing an interview with Francesca in which we’ll explore the interface between The Law of Attraction and Intuition. Watch for that interview after she returns from teaching The Practice of Medical Intuition at the Omega Institute in upstate New York on August 12 -17.

Make It Great

Phil Gerbyshak, the always great Make It Great guy, and another one of my Positive Blog Network buddies, has graciously donated two copies of his inspiring book, 10 Ways To Make It Great.

Make A Statement Bracelet

Barb Lattin, of Feels Like Magic, has donated one of her gorgeous, customized Make A Statement sterling silver cuff bracelets. I can’t think of a better way to be reminded of a positive intention!

Each of these prize packages is worth $491!

Subscriber Bonus Package

I really want to make this celebration a WIN for everybody. So to accomplish that I am rounding up some great bonuses that you can get just for subscribing.

So far this is what I have for you when you subscribe to the Evolving Times feed or join my email list:

Mitch Meyerson is offering an amazing package for anyone looking for a full-featured ecommerce solution. Many people think The Easy Web Automation system is the best on the web. I use it!

Go check it out at the link above, but don’t sign up yet. There’s a super special offer worth over $550.00 included in the Subscriber Bonus Package.

Law of Attraction coach Andrea Conway of Successful Self Employment offers her e-report “Revealed: Three Master Keys to ‘The Secret’” (a $17.95 value) as your free gift. Discover new and empowering ways to use “The Secret” to benefit yourself, others, and the planet.

And I’m also including The Power Nap Session, a 10-minute brainwave entrainment audio session designed to give you a quick, deep rest to perk you back up and get you through the day at a high vibration.

So How Do You Win?

Great question. And with so many incredible prizes, there are a lot of ways to win!

There are three four ways for you to win one of these great prizes.

1. Link to Evolving Times. If you have a blog or website, link to Evolving Times during the month of August and you’ll automatically be entered to win both the weekly prizes and the grand prizes. (To be sure that you’re added to the list, I would encourage you to also send me an email or leave a comment since some incoming links seem to get lost in the shuffle over at Technorati. If you are linking from a website [non-blog] you must send me an email or leave a comment because Technorati does not track your links). Each week, I’ll pull some random winners from everyone who has linked in. (You only need to link in once to be eligible for all of the weekly prizes as well as the bigger prizes at the end of the month).

2. Subscribe to the Evolving Times Feed. Everyone who is an ET feed subscriber will be eligible to win prizes. (Every subscriber will also receive the bonus package listed above). Again, subscribers will be eligible to receive weekly prizes as well as the bigger prizes. Watch your feeds for your special instructions.

You can subscribe to the feed here.

3. Leave a comment or lots of them. You may have noticed that I reset the top commenters list in the sidebar. (I’ve also added the do-follow plugin, so every comment you leave from now on will be an active link back to your blog or website). Each week one of the top ten commenters listed in the sidebar will be chosen at random to win one of the weekly prizes. And at the end of August, the top three folks on that list will be bigger winners. So start commenting!

4. And in the spirit of inclusiveness – it was pointed out that not everyone knows what an RSS feed is much less how to subscribe – you can also enter the contest by joining my email list. Just fill out the simple form below, confirm your subscription and you’ll go directly to the Subscriber Bonus Package page in addition to being entered to win one of the other prizes.

Name
Email

And, yes, if you haven’t already figured it out, doing more than one of these things DOES increase your chances of winning!

Thanks again to everyone who has donated prizes! And thanks to all of you who have already subscribed and/or linked in. And, of course, many thanks to everyone who is reading Evolving Times. Your presence here makes this all worthwhile!

Watch for the first winners to be announced on Thursday.

Harry Potter Is NOT A Distraction!

My wife and I were surprised Saturday morning when a box from Amazon showed up at our front door. Turns out my mom had pre-ordered us a copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

After seeing the new movie on Friday evening, the book’s arrival turned this into a full-blown Harry Potter weekend.

I’m sure it was a complete coincidence that I was feeling a bit “under the weather” on Saturday and didn’t have a lot of energy…just enough to sit around reading for most of the day!

Melissa decided to go back and re-read book 6. So that left me free to dive into the latest and last installment. Although, despite my best intentions I didn’t manage to finish the book over the weekend. Having a 3 1/2 year old definitely cuts into reading time.

And now that Monday has arrived, I made sure to leave the book safely at home, where it is unable to tempt me with its spell! Harry Potter will not be a distraction from work!

Although, I suppose I could go home for lunch…

So how many of you spent the weekend sitting in your comfy chair, turning the pages and uncovering the secrets and the answers to the questions?

Leave a comment, but just be sure you don’t give anything away!

The Face Behind Evolving Times

I’ve been tagged by Dawud Miracle at Healthy Web Design with the latest meme – The Face Behind The Blog. David Airey started this meme a few weeks ago and you can see all the folks who have particpated in it so far in this post. Seeing these photos is a great way to connect with the people behind the blogs you read.

Here’s the basic idea from David:

Post a short blog article that includes a photograph (or a series of photos) showing the face behind your blog. If you already show a photo somewhere on your site (such as in your about page), then make your post more interesting and choose a photo that’s not currently online.

Alrighty then. Here are a few photos to show you the face behind Evolving Times.

What can I say? Here’s the real face behind Evolving Times! Well, maybe that’s just one of the many faces behind Evolving Times. Read on for more!

M&E on the Napali Coast - Close up

Here’s my wife Melissa and I on the Napali Coast, well part of us.

Melissa & Ed on Hanalei Bay Beach

Here’s the rest of us! Yes, I love taking self portraits this way. Oh, and this one was on the beach at Hanalei Bay after we had renewed our vows for our fifth anniversary!

Ella & Dad in the Garden

Here’s me and Ella studying something in the garden. We’re probably watching a snail eat our plants!

Our House

Here’s our little house and my little garden. Don’t have time for much more than that these days.

Melissa & Ed at Kilauea Lighthouse

Here’s Melissa and I again in Hawaii. This time at the Kilauea Lighthouse.

Who taught Ella to do that?

Drumming

A behind the scenes look at me would definitely not be complete without a photo of a drum circle! This one was at our annual New Year’s Eve party and ritual.

Tired Ella after her bath

And here’s a very tired Ella after her bath.

So there’s a very quick look at some behind the scenes photos of the face behind Evolving Times. I hope you enjoyed it!

I’m supposed to tag a few of my favorite bloggers, although it seems like everybody in the world has already been tagged. Sorry if I’m double tagging you, but here I go.

I Needed A Vacation From My Vacation

This week has been a bit of a wash. Seems I needed a vacation from my Hawaiian vacation!

The biggest lesson learned: A seven-day trip to Hawaii is just not enough. But when you’re leaving your 3 ½ year old daughter for more than 2 nights for the first time, seven days feels like a lot! When you get to Hawaii, however, and realize that, with two nearly full days of traveling, you only have five days to relax, your perspective changes pretty quickly.

DSCN0583
That’s the beach right across from our little North Shore Cottage.

There were so many things my wife and wanted to do: Kayaking in Hanalei Bay, Snorkeling at Tunnels and Ke’e Beaches, hiking the Na Pali Coast, plus relaxing, hanging out on beautiful beaches, shopping, sight-seeing, getting massages, catching up on our reading, doing some “fun” writing, and of course, well you know, 5th year anniversary type stuff!

Well to say that our eyes were bigger than our calendars is bit more than understatement. It took us about 4-days to figure out that our to-do lists had stowed away in our baggage. Apparently they made it though the security checkpoint by swapping out the normal work-related items to fun and “relaxation” related items and thereby convincing us that they were essential components for our vacation enjoyment!

By the time we realized that we had been running ourselves ragged to get all of our vacationing “done” we only had two days left to relax!

It was most definitely an eye-opening experience. And it did leave me needing a vacation! Today is the first day that I feel like I am mostly back to work.

The good news? We won’t do that again!

And, even better than that, I’ve got a ton of material to write about. So watch for Hawaii-related posts to show up over the next few days and weeks as the experiences and ideas come into focus and wriggle their way out of my fingers and into the blogosphere.

And For Best Ad Campaign Based On The Law of Attraction The Winner Is…

On the way down to the airport to pick up Grandma J., who is watching Ella for the week that Melissa and I are in Hawaii, I saw a great series of billboards for the Volkswagon Beetle.

Each billboard featured two lines of text and a photo of a Beetle on a white background. Here are a couple of my favorites.

Misery has enough company.
Dare to be happy!

Jaded is Overrated.
Dare to be Happy!

This is not an endorsement of nor encouragement for you to purchase a new Volkswagon Beetle. (I’m not a VW affiliate!)

But is an endorsement of happiness.

Misery does, indeed, have enough company.

I dare you to be happy!

Here’s A Pretty Worthwhile Attraction-Based Time-Waster

I don’t normally encourage the wasting of time. But every once in a while I need a break. And when I find a worthwhile mind releaser, I take advantage of it. This fun little “game” at The Cleverest provides a fun, visual, if not completely accurate from a physics level, way to explore the idea of attraction.

Try pulling the two little “attractor” balls together and getting them to attract all the little particles. As you’re doing it, imagine that you are the attractor balls and visualize all those little particles swirling around you as more of what you are currently attracting into your life!

Have fun.

Are you ready for some Wednesday fun? Phase two of the Simpleology book launch has begun. Here’s a blurb from the email I just received:

If you go to:

The Simpleology book page there are three steps there.

Somewhere on Step 1, 2, or 3 there is a surprising “Easter egg.”

An Easter egg is something hidden inside of a web page or a
program.

Now here’s the best part. I’m offering two prizes for playing.

Two Evolving Times readers will receive the following prize: A free 3-month subscription to the Law of Attraction Toolbox accelerated learning audio recordings. That means, beginning with the release of the brand new CD, An Introduction To Brainwave Entrainment Technology For Personal Growth And Success later this month and continuing through the June release, you’ll receive a free CD focusing on a specific aspect of the Law of Attraction and utilizing brainwave entrainment technology to assist you in understanding and integrating the information into your life.

How do you win? Two ways:
The first person to contact me with the location of the “Easter Egg” will be the first winner. Use the contact form in the tabs above.
And the person with the highest score at 12:00pm (pacific time) Friday, will be the second winner. I’ll be tallying scores Friday afternoon, so make sure you send me your highest score by noon on Friday!

And while you’re over there, if you haven’t ordered your Simpleology book yet, head over to amazon and order Simpleology: The Simple Science of Getting What You Want. I recieved mine yesterday, and it looks great. I’ll be diving into it this weekend for sure!

Oh, and if you’re wondering, I found the Easter Egg. But I’m not giving out any hints. You’re on your own.

Ready, set, go!

Why I Blog – Tagged Again

The latest blog meme has made its way to Evolving Times. Thanks to Steve Johnson at the Fast Lane for getting me in on the fun. Steve was tagged by Wendy Piersall at eMoms at Home. You can follow the links back from there.

Technically, I’m supposed to keep this to five reasons I blog. But hey, I’m a blogger, and I never was good at following rules. That’s one of the reasons I blog!

So, in no particular order, here are the reasons I blog.

1. Being on the leading edge and connecting with other leading edge thinkers. When you’re immersed in the blogosphere it’s easy to feel like this is just a mainstream, everybody-does-it sort of activity. It’s not. I’m still amazed at how often I mention my blog and get that blank-stare-what’s-that look. We are on the leading edge, and it feels great being here!

2. Building Platform. That’s a term I first heard from Arielle Ford. Your platform is your ability to reach a large number of people. It’s what publishers look for when they’re considering whether or not to publish your book. And it’s ultimately what allows you to make money selling your own products and services. Since my business model includes a number of ebooks, CDs, workshops and retreats, I understood the need to have a strong platform. With over 12,000 unique visitors a month, Evolving Times has quickly become one of my most effective platform building vehicles.

3. “We can make him better, stronger, faster…Dah dah dah dah…” For those of you that did not come of age in the ‘70s, that’s the theme from the 6 Million Dollar Man. One of the reasons I blog is to become a better, stronger and faster writer. Writing everyday is great. I used to write every day and stick whatever I wrote back into a folder on my computer. Writing something everyday that you’re going to share with the world is a completely different endeavor. It forces you to become a ruthlessly efficient writer while staying fully connected with your creativity.

4. Change the world. All right, the secret is out. I want to change the world. And the beautiful thing about the blogosphere is that I get to hang out – virtually – with all of you other folks that also want to change the world. It’s like we’re having this rockin’ party of world changing conversations. And here’s the best thing of all… I don’t know about you, but when I look around me, it sure seems like what we’re doing here is working. I think we really ARE changing the world!

5. Sharing what I know. Before jumping onto the blogging train, the ways I could share my knowledge was limited to my monthly ezine, workshops, and courses. My ideas folder was overflowing with ideas that I wanted to develop into newsletter articles, ecourses, or full-blown seminars. Unfortunately there’s just so much time and space to expand on the continually evolving ideas. Blogging gives me the space to share ideas while they are still germinating. I don’t have to develop them into full-fledged “offerings.” I can share them in a way that brings benefit to those who read them and which, hopefully, might encourage others to take those ideas and expand on them.

Hey, look at that. I kept it to five reasons! If you don’t include that first one about not following rules.

So now, who to tag… Always a tough decision since there are so many incredible bloggers out there.

First up is Gleb Reys at Personal Development Ideas. Gleb’s blog is filled with great personal development ideas, and if you haven’t already figured it out, he also happens to be one of the nicest bloggers out there.

Next is Aaron Potts of Today is That Day. Aaron is a frequent contributor to the Law of Attraction Carnival and has quite an impressive archive of Law of Attraction articles on his site.

And how about Darren Rowse of Problogger.net. Sure this is a longshot. But it never hurts to ask. Darren did stop by yesterday to leave a comment on my post, Is Darren Rowse Going Personal Developmenty On Us. And if you’re looking for a blogger who is truly helping change the world by helping other bloggers, look no further than Darren. How about it Darren, why do you blog?

I always love tagging my friend Niya over at Niya’s Place. Her, shall we say, unique perspective on life always makes for a good read!

And finally, a tag to Adrian Lebar of A Rain Of Frogs. Adrian, a fellow 9rules member has a blog that I’ve been reading since my induction into 9rules, though I’ve done so in the background. I find his site to be such an interesting mix of beautiful prose and insightful commentary on web design and development and so many other random topics that I would love to hear why he blogs.

This Question Has Been On My Mind

I’ve been thinking lately about this idea of the Expanding Universe. Where is it expanding to? What is outside of it?

Seems like a lot of other folks have been wondering about it as well. I just signed up for a Digg account – better late than never – and found this entry Where Is The Universe Expanding To? over at Scientific American which has been Dugg over 500 times!

I must admit that whole Space-Time Continuum thing is a bit over my head. But I sort of get the expanding balloon analogy.

If you’ve been wondering where this expanding Universe is heading, you might want to check out the Sciam entry as well.
