Do You Have the “Right” Cup Full?

Have you heard the story of the Buddhist scholar who went to visit an old and respected monk to discuss Buddhism? The monk invited the scholar in and they sat down. While the monk prepared tea the scholar immediately began to expound upon all he had learned about Buddhism at the university. On and on he went while the old monk quietly listened and prepared the tea.

tea-overflowing When the tea was ready, the scholar continued to speak even as the old monk poured the tea. Suddenly, the scholar stopped and jumped up as he realized that tea was pouring down onto his leg. The old monk had filled the scholar’s cup and was continuing to pour tea into his already full cup.

The scholar shouted, “You old fool. What are you thinking?”

The old monk calmly replied, “A cup that is already full has no room to receive.”

This story expresses the importance of having an open mind and a willingness to listen for and receive new information.

This is good advice.

However, there is another cup metaphor, from the Old Testament, that seems to contradict the message in this story. I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase “My cup runneth over.” In this usage, an overflowing cup is an expression of true abundance.

So how do we reconcile these two seemingly contradictory metaphors?

Well I believe we all have two “cups.” One of these cups we want to keep as full as we possibly can, full to overflowing whenever possible. The other cup we want to keep as empty and open as we possibly can. What are these cups?

The empty cup is easy. I’ve already given you the answer to that one up above: Abundant Mystics have an “empty” mind that is open to new ideas and possibilities. Abundant Mystics understand that their minds are a great tool. But they don’t allow the “tool” to run the show.

When your mind is full, you cannot access new insights and ideas. You cannot hear the guidance that comes from inner wisdom and from the Universe. And most of all, you cannot receive all of the blessings that are being offered to you.

So Abundant Mystics have learned to keep their minds open and empty as much as possible.

And which cup is full? Which cup do Abundant Mystics want to “runneth over?” Would you like to take a guess?

It is the cup of the heart!

Abundant Mystics have an overflowing heart. They actively seek to fill their heart with light, love and joy and allow that energy to overflow out into the world.

And the more you can allow your light, love and joy to flow out into the world the more abundance is showered back on you. But, of course, the cup of your mind must be empty in order to receive those blessings.

I have come to see this as one of the secrets to TRUE Abundance.

Release your thoughts and ideas about abundance and fill yourself with feelings and faith about abundance. The more you can do that, the more abundance you will attract into your life.

Stop spewing your thoughts and start flowing your love out into the world. The more you do, the abundance will flow back to you.

I first explored this concept in my audio program, Release the Money Madness and Unleash YOUR Money Magic. Because the context of this program is now out of date – I recorded it in the Fall of 2008 during the height of the economic chaos – and because of my tendency to overindulge my inner perfectionist (one way that my mind cup is full!) Abundance FLOWS: A Fun Story

river-02 Well I just got back from a warm and sunny week in San Diego with my daughter, Ella. You can see some pics of our trip over at Facebook.

Before I left I had a personal experience that reminded me of how beautifully and mysteriously Abundance Flows.

I’m sure you know that I just finished the 21-day launch of The Abundant Mystic teleseminar series. Well, when I was planning for the program I created a list of the people I wanted to be Abundant Mystic Faculty Members. I had my “big list” and then I had my “I really would love to have them” list. One of the people on my “I really would love to have them” list was Arielle Ford.

Arielle is the publicist for some of the most successful personal and spiritual development authors in the world including: Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer, Neale Donald Walsch, Louise Hay and many more. And she is most definitely a Modern Day Mystic! She is the host of Mystical Cafe on Lime Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio and she is the author of the popular book series, Hot Chocolate for the Mystical Soul. As a Modern Day Mystic you’ve got to love that!

I wasn’t able to make a direct connection with Arielle for the 21-Day program. But I still had a sense that we were going to connect.

So practice going with the flow today. Practice staying open to the little miracles and synchronicities that flow into your life. These are the signs that you are aligning with abundance and opening to your creative partnership with the Universe!

James Ray’s Harmonic Wealth Weekend Begins Today

Well I’m jazzed! Today is the first day of the Harmonic Wealth Weekend with James Ray. I’ve been waiting for this ever since signing up back in February. And since I’m just coming off of the Peak Potentials Millionaire Mind Intensive a few weeks ago, I am already primed and definitely ready to go!

It’s unlikely that I’ll have time to write anything during the event: I’ve been told that these weekends are packed and go very late. But I’m sure that I’ll have lots to say about after I get back.

The weekend will be doubly interesting because my birth-mother is here with me. She flew down from Boise to spend a couple of days with Ella and me and attend this event. I will be very interested to see how her presence here effects my experience.

No matter what happens, I’m sure I’ll have many insights and aha moments to share with you in the coming days and weeks. So stay tuned!

If You’re Not LIVING It You Don’t KNOW It

Wow.

That’s just about all I can say.

This weekend I attended my second Millionaire Mind Intensive and it was even more life-changing than the first one. This one was in San Francisco, so I didn’t have to fly anywhere. And even more important, T. Harv Eker was there this weekend.

If you’re interested in personal development or have any interest in creating more wealth – of all kinds – in your life you must see Harv.

Well, that’s assuming that you’re willing to hear the truth.

Harv is a truth-teller which means it’s not always easy to hear what he has to say. But if you want to change your life and you are ready and willing to listen to what he says you want to go check him out.

At the beginning of the weekend, you’re introduced to the “three most dangerous words in the English language.” Any idea what they are?

I KNOW THAT!

Once you know something – or even worse, THINK you know something – the game is over. You stop learning and growing. Your mind turns off and closes down to new information.

One of Harv’s most important points is that if you’re not living it, you don’t “KNOW” it. The first time I went to the Millionaire Mind Intensive I got some great insights, but there was still a part of me that fell into the “I know that” trap. So I didn’t get as much out of it as I could have.

At this MMI I was ready and willing to participate fully. I was ready to let go of my image of myself and look at the reality of my life – which is a much better reflection of what I “KNOW.” And because of that I had some huge personal breakthroughs.

Have you ever fallen into the I KNOW THAT trap? It’s not just for “know it alls.” We all do it. And it can be extremely subtle. But once those three words kick in, your ability to hear, accept and apply new information basically shuts down.

Here’s the bottom line: Look at your life.

Do you have as much money as you want?
Do you have as much joy and fun and happiness as you want?
Do you have as much love and intimacy as you want?
Do you have as much confidence as you want?

If you answered “No” to any of those questions there is something you DON”T KNOW. You may have read it somewhere. You may understand it intellectually. You may even be starting to apply it in your life. But if you aren’t fully living it you haven’t embodied it which means that you don’t trulyknow it!

And until you do, the three words, “I KNOW THAT,” will continue to hold you back.

So take a moment to look at your life. Where would you like to see some imnprovements?

Now ask yourself what knowledge you need in order to make those changes.

Or you may need to look at what knowledge you already have that you need to begin applying! Because remember, if you’re not living it, you don’t know it!

So I encourage you to be on the lookout for those three most dangerous words in the English language. (And if English is not your first language, go ahead and translate them into your language). And when you catch your mind trying to convince you that you know something ask yourself these two simple questions:

Am I living this knowledge?
Is my life a reflection of this knowledge?

If the answers are “No” you don’t know it! And if that’s the case it’s time to get yourself back into the best school there isâ€¦ LIFE!

Time For the Millionaire Mind Intensive

If you’ve ever been to a big event you probably know that feeling of anticipation and excitement that comes up just before you get there. It’s that same kind of high-vibration energy that comes just before a performance or a job interview. There’s an energy and an aliveness that wakes you up.

Well I’m feeling that right now.

Tomorrow morning at 5:00am I’m heading down to San Francisco for the Peak Potentials 3-day Millionaire Mind Intensive. If you read my previous post on MMI you know that this will be my second time attending the event. And if anything, I’m even more excited about it this time!

You know how when you see a movie a second time you notice things you missed the first time? Well I have a feeling I’ll be getting a lot of those missing pieces this time through MMI.

I’m also excited because quite a few of the folks who participate in my monthly Drop in Law of Attraction group are heading down there as well. We’ve got a very strong Sonoma County crew for this weekend.

If you’ve ever attended a Peak Potentials event you know that there is very little time for extraneous activities, so I can’t guarantee that I’ll be doing any “live” blogging from the event. But I’m sure that I’ll be cranking out a few posts about the event after I return.
