Who Is The Secret?
If you haven’t seen the Secret movie yet, it’s well worth your time. You can download it or order the DVD. I recommend the second option since you will want to watch it more than once!
But who are all those folks in The Secret? Who are the men and women who are living examples of and master teachers of the Law of Attraction? I knew many of them when I saw the movie. But I wanted to know them all. So I did some research and found out who they all are.
Here they are, in no particular order, complete with links (when available) the men and women of The Secret.
There’s enough information in these sites to keep you busy for a while! Enjoy.

My Daughter, My Abundance Teacher
Last Sunday, we ”officially” celebrated my daughter’s third birthday. With all the traveling and craziness this month – her actual birthday was on the day of my father-in-law’s funeral – there was no time to have a party with her friends. So we rented a picnic area in a nearby park, played games, sang songs, painted faces and celbrated Ella’s third year.
She got some great presents, but on of her favorites was a package of personalized stickers. There were butterflies and rainbows, balloons and animals, each with a little “Ella” printed on it. That night, when it was time to go upstairs for bed, she grabbed the stickers and brought them up with her. During our reading time, she was more interested in putting stickers on the books than reading.
As I watched her peeling and sticking those stickers with abandon, I found myself encouraging her to slow down, to save them, to not use them all up at once. “Don’t you want to put the stickers away now and play with them again tomorrow?” I asked. “More,” was her simple and clear answer.
Clearly, what I was doing was overlaying my conditioning in the world of scarcity onto her natural state of abundance. Ella has absolutely no doubt that when that batch of stickers is gone there will be another to take its place. When she is playing with her stickers there is no concern about lack. She does not entertain thoughts of “what if I run out.” She is playing in the flow of abundance that is our natural state.
When I observe her in that state of abundance, and she is almost always there, it gives me the opportunity to go there as well. When she is in that state of abundance, I have a choice: I can join her or I can resist. If I resist, which is, in many ways, the easier choice, not only do I reinforce my own scarcity conditioning, but I also begin conditioning her in the ways of scarcity thinking. Neither of these outcomes appeals to me.
So my intention is to meet her in the flow of abundance as best I can. And if I can’t go there with her, I will do my best to keep my scarcity conditioning from infringing on her connection to the natural ways of abundance and flow.
Why I Want You To Be Rich
This morning, as my daughter and I sat down to enjoy our free continental breakfast in the hotel dining lounge, Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki came on the Today Show to discuss their new book, Why We Want You To Be Rich (aff).
The very first question the host asked them was “Why do you want people to get rich? That means less for you.”
Here is someone that clearly does not understand the Law of Attraction.
Getting what we want does not infringe upon anyone else’s desires. There is no lack in this Universe. There is no scarcity. When I am more joyful, that joy does not decrease the joy of those around me. When I am more loving, that love does not decrease the love that those around me feel. When I increase my financial abundance, that wealth does not cause those around me to become poorer.
This idea, that there is only so much and not enough to go around, is one of the most crippling fallacies in our cultural belief system. And whether conscious or not, this belief infuses most of our lives and influences our actions.
We are told that our resources are limited, that we have a finite supply of this and that. We hear that such and such is in “short supply.” We are taught the rule of supply and demand. We hear this so often, that it becomes difficult to imagine that there is enough of anything.
The reality is that there is enough of everything. In order to manifest this new reality we only have to begin to focus on it more often than we focus on and think about the other reality – the reality of lack and scarcity.
Begin to consciously visualize wealth as an unlimited resource. Begin to spend time each day envisioning wealth – or whatever else you want to be limitless – as a continuously renewable and renewing resource. Use whatever images or symbols or feelings evoke a sense of infinite supply or allow your intuition to awaken in you new images and feelings of the infinite.
Whatever you do, remember that stepping into abundance takes nothing away from anyone else, just the opposite, in fact. As those of us who are aware of the infinite nature of this Universe step consciously into financial abundance, others who are on the edge of this awareness get pulled into that awareness by our forward motion. And as we move forward together, as Deliberate Creators focused on our own evolution, we create a powerful force for change in this world.
Clothing Comfort Zone – Forever in Blue Jeans
Last night I had dinner with my good friend Mike Shea. We were discussing the book, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind and the upcoming Millionaire Mind Intensive that we’re going to in December. He said that he was going to take one of the “action steps” suggested in the book and buy himself some nice clothes. I agreed that looking “like a million dollars” is an important step on the path to financial freedom.
However, this morning, as I was getting dressed, I caught myself automatically reaching for my blue jeans. As I pulled them on I recalled our conversation. “But I love my jeans,” I thought. “They’re so comfortable and they just feel right.”
And then the light bulb went off and the bell went ding, ding, ding! “You’re a winner!”
The keyword there was “comfortable.” Stepping into financial abundance means stepping out of the comfort zone. To become truly wealthy, to achieve true financial freedom, I must be willing to leave this place of “making enough money to get by but not having a whole lot more.” I have to be willing to step out of this familiar space and venture into the unknown.
Wearing blue jeans most of the time is just one way that I – until now – unconsciously have perpetuated my connection to my present financial state.
By choosing different pants in the morning, pants that cause me to consciously step out of my comfort zone, I will start my day with an outlook and attitude that is more attractive to the abundant wealth that I am now allowing into my life.
What actions do you take – or not take – every day that anchor you into some existing comfort zone? Pay attention today to seemingly mundane thoughts and actions that may be holding you back.
Leave a comment and let me know what you discover.
Law of Attraction Carnival - August 22nd, 2006
Welcome to the August 22, 2006 edition of The Law of Attraction Carnival.
What fun it is to intend something and watch with joyous anticipation and expectation as it comes to fruition!
When I decided to launch this Law of Attraction blog Carnival, I had no idea what kind of response I would get. I just followed my intuition, my inner guidance that urged me to do it. It’s amazing, when we follow those first, intuitive “hits,” how easily things come together. It really is as many have said, the Universe conspires to make your dreams come true!
After posting the call for entries for this Law of Attraction Carnival, the entries have come rolling in. Clearly there is significant interest in this topic.
If you’ve been following the creation of this Carnival, you know that I left the topic for this first edition open. People could send in entries on anything related to the Law of Attraction. And so they did! Here are some of the great entries I recieved.
To start, Jerry Lopper gives a clear overview of the Law of Attraction, and he even throws in a few unique tools for working with the Law of Attraction. Go and read, The Law of Attraction and how the Universe works posted at Purposeful Growth.
Next, Hieu Doan presents The Essence of Meditation posted at The Essence of Meditation. You probably know that one of the Law of Attraction “processes” is meditation. But perhaps you have a hard time finding your way into a restful state of meditation. Hieu provides a powerful perspective on finding your way into meditation.
If you’re someone that enjoys guided meditations/visualizations, you can check out these two posts on Evolving Times: The Art of Allowing - Guided Visualization and Towards Total Fincial Freedom - Guided Visualization. Each of these are about 17-minutes and can be helpful if you find it difficult to settle into a quiet, focused visualization space.
And speaking of Financial Freedom, And last, Simonne Matthew sent in a recommendation to go check out Steve Pavlina and his Million Dollar Experiment. It’s free, and if you’re interested in manifesting $1,000,000 in your life, it’s a fun way to jump-start the process. I went on over and signed up. I’ll report back in a few days, how much money comes! One of the most critical aspects of the Law of Attraction is the importance of Self Care. At the recent Abraham-Hicks seminar, “Abester” continually emphasized the need to make feeling good a top priority in your life. We were reminded again and again that selfish is good. You have to take care of yourself before you can take care of anyone else !
In her post, C.P.R. for a Balanced Life Hueina Su gives a concise and powerful formula for stepping into a high-level of self care.
Expanding our dreams and visions is one of the key components to the Law of Attraction. And then, of course, allowing them to manifest! In one of his very first blog posts, How to make your dreams come true, RMic gives us some great tips on how to manifest our expanding dreams.
And while we’re on the topic of manifesting dreams, Lyrois sent an entry with some very interesting tools and techniques for using the power of intention to increase productivity. WOW: A Simple Technique to Experience Amazing Productivity Gains.
Well that’s it for this firsrt edition of the Law of Attraction Carnival. What did you think? Leave a comment for us, suggest a topic for a future edition, or just say “hi.”
Our next Law of Attraction Carnival will be posted on September 12th. For now, We’ll be posting them twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month.
The topic for the next Carnival will be Desire. This is such a crucial concept in our work with the Law of Attraction. If we don’t know what we want, how can we attract it? And so many of us have so many blocks about what we want.
If you have an entry on Desire, or would like to write one to be included in the next edition, please submit it using our carnival submission form.
As we get up and running, you’ll be able to view past posts and future hosts can be found on our blog carnival index page.
And speaking of hosts, beginning with the October 10th edition, I’ll be looking for hosts to bring a different perspective to the Carnival. If you’re intersted leave a comment here, or send an email to info at edwardmills dot com.
That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of law of attraction using our carnival submission form.

Finding Money: Oh What Fun!
When you were a kid did you find lots of money on the ground? I did. I would find pennies and quarters and dollar bills and fivers. I loved finding money. It made my day. It didn’t matter how much I found: a penny was as exciting as a five-dollar bill. The point was that I had found a secret surprise, a gift just for me.
It never crossed my mind that, in order for me to find it, someone must have lost it. I was truly in a space of receptivity, welcoming the found money as a gift from the Universe. It had been left there for ME. I was supposed to find it. I never questioned the “rightness” of the situation.
But somewhere along the way to adulthood, something changed. The concept of cause and effect entered my awareness and, when I found money, I began to consider who might have lost it, how it might have affected them, and whether it was “right” for me to keep it.
The familiar child’s taunt of “finders keepers, losers weepers,” would enter my thoughts and I would wonder who was weeping over this money. How could I be happy about finding a dollar when it meant that somewhere, someone else, perhaps at that very moment, was opening their wallet and realizing they had lost it? It took much of the enjoyment out of the experience.
And as finding money became less fun, I just began finding less of it. Makes sense. If I didn’t find money, I wouldn’t have to confront the questions about finders and losers, right and wrong.
We humans are very good at creating filters to our perception. When finding money was no longer fun for me, I created a perceptual filter that screened out my awareness of money on the ground. If there was a quarter on the sidewalk, the visual information still entered my eyes, but because finding money now brought up uncomfortable questions, my brain created a “program” that filtered out information about “money on the ground” before it entered my conscious awareness.
Unfortunately, this programming had more widespread effects. You see, my brain, while it tries to be helpful, is not very intelligent. My brain, in its attempt to be helpful, made the somewhat logical deduction that if I didn’t want to find money on the ground I must not want to find money in other places either. So my brain expanded the filtering program to include other areas of income, not just spare change on the ground. .
As you can imagine, this is not good!
Recently, I’ve had a few lessons that have helped me shift my resistance to “finding” money, on the ground, and elsewhere. My most effective teacher has been my daughter. As she has begun walking around, she seems to have inherited my dormant ability to find money on the ground. Every time she finds a penny on the sidewalk she does her happy “jiggy jiggy” dance. She knows that it’s one more penny that she can toss into the fountain. Yeah! Her enthusiasm seems to be contagious and, whether I’m with Ella or not, I now find myself actively looking for money on the ground.
I came across the other lesson as I was reading books of two of my “virtual” mentors, Wayne Dyer’s, The Power of Intention, and T. Harv Eker’s Secrets of the Millionaire Mind. Both write about how they joyfully and gratefully bend down to pick up every penny they see. And keep in mind that these are not poor guys we’re talking about here!
For them there is no shame in it. Nor is there a sense of guilt at another’s misfortune. Rather, by acknowledging every financial blessing, regardless of how seemingly insignificant, they let the Universe know that they are open to getting more of those blessings.
When it comes to finding money on the ground, here’s what Wayne Dyer has to say, “Every time I see a coin on the street, I stop, pick it up, put it into my pocket, and say out loud, “Thank you, God, for this symbol of abundance that keeps flowing into my life.” Never once have I asked, “Why only a penny, God? You know I need a lot more than that.”
T. Harv Eker’s advice is a bit more lighthearted, but no less effective. When he finds money on the ground, he picks it up and says out loud, “Yes! I am a money magnet. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
Either way, the effect is the same. By welcoming these financial gifts and showing your appreciation you make space for more and bigger gifts. If you turn your nose up at a penny, the Universe assumes that you’re not interested in money and figures when it’s time to dole out the next batch of monetary gifts it just passes you by, since you don’t seem to really want it anyway.
If, on the other hand, you pick up that penny and jump up and down and shout your gratitude for the gift, the Universe will definitely hear you and get the message. And you’ll be first in line for that next batch of financial blessings.
I’ve started to return to that childlike place around finding money. I catch myself looking for money as I walk down the street. Whenever I see some money on the ground, it doesn’t matter if it’s a nickel or a dime or a penny, I pick it up and give thanks for the gift the Universe has just provided me. I’m beginning to remember how fun it was, as a child, to spend time on treasure hunts – looking for money on the ground.
If you find yourself feeling embarrassed about picking up money on the ground try this. Take a little kid for a walk. Borrow one, if you don’t have your own. Two to six years old is about right. Tell the child that you’re going on a treasure hunt, looking for money. And whenever you find money see how excited both of you can get. Trust me, it’s contagious! And somehow, when you’re with a kid, it’s ok to pick up money and make a big deal about it.
Well, it’s really always ok to pick up money, but doing it with a kid makes it more fun, and “acceptable.”
So your mission, this month, is to by on a money hunt, to see how much money you can find on the ground, and in other unexpected and surprising places.

Don’t Feed the Animals!
We’re up here in Tahoe, staying at a friend’s house right on the lake. Last night we had a visitor during the night. A young black bear came by. We didn’t see him or her, but when my daughter Ella and I came down in the morning and went out on the deck to watch the sunrise, we found that lovely set of fresh bear tracks on the beach.
The bears come around because there are lots of easy meals to be had around us humans. The problems start when the bears get a bit too comfortable around us. Then what usually happens is someone thinks the bear is a big cute fluffy friend, gets a bit too close, and finds out that it’s not! Then, unfortunately, the bear has to be destroyed. They don’t relocate bears around here.
Got me thinking about how we tend to leave easy meals around for the parts of ourselves that we don’t want around. This could be in a literal sense, say, if we’re on a diet and “forget” to take those cookies out of the cabinet. Bad idea.
But it also could be in a more subtle sense. Let’s say, for instance, that you’re trying to break a pattern of scarcity thinking. You want to step into abundance, but you keep finding yourself stuck in lack. You might want to look around and see what easy meals you might be leaving around to entice that “bear” of scarcity to keep coming around.
Here are some possibilities:
Are you still hanging out with folks that reinforce your scarcity thinking?
Do you continue to focus more on what you don’t have?
Do you spend your money frivolously?
Do you have no idea what you’re spending your money on?
These are just a few examples of “easy meals” that encourage scarcity to stay around. Stop leaving these meals out and that bear will have to go somewhere else to find his easy dinner.
So when you find yourself stuck in a pattern that you want to shift, consider taking a look around you and your environment for the easy meals you’re leaving around.
Oh, and there’s a photo of the sunset over the lake last night. I like it up here!
Show Me the Money!
All right. It’s not original. I admit I stole it from that movie. You know the one I’m talking about it. But hey, it works.
Let’s start with a short quiz:
Do you like money? Yes _ No _
Do you love money? Yes _ No _
Do you have all the money you want? Yes _ No _
Ok. If you answered Yes to all three of the questions, or No to all three of the questions then you’re in good shape. You don’t need to read the rest of this article. If, however, your answer to question 1 and/or 2 was Yes, and your answer to question 3 was No, then keep on reading!
Here’s the thing. If you say you like or even love money, but do not, yet, have all the money you want, it means there is some internal wiring that’s gone bad. Somewhere inside of you there is a belief that does not agree with your stated love of money and your desire for more. Trust me on this one. I speak from experience.
I’m one of those guys that has a screw loose when it comes to money. My internal wiring got all wacky-doodled somehow, and I’ve been trying to straighten it out for quite a while.
I wonder how many of you have wacky-doodled money wiring on the inside. Let’s find out. When you read the list below, notice how each one of the statements makes you feel. Good, bad, indifferent, squirrelly, joyful, scared, whatever. Just notice. Maybe you won’t get an emotion but a feeling in your body: a buzzy feeling, a knot in your stomach, a queasy sensation. Whatever it is, just notice.
Ok. Here’s the list:
· Until I have enough money people won’t respect me.
· You have to give up things you love in order to make money.
· Money is the root of all evil.
· Money can’t buy me happiness.
· When I have more money I’ll feel better.
· Money makes the world go ‘round.
· Show me the money!
· Money corrupts.
· People with lots of money are jerks.
· If I want too much money it means I’m greedy.
Ok. What happened? What did you feel? Did your reaction to any of those statements surprise you?
I’ve made affirmations and intentions around money, but until recently, I’ve been only sporadically successful in bringing home the bacon in a quantity sufficient enough to feed all the hungry mouths around me and still have some leftovers!
What was I doing wrong? Well, technically I was not doing anything wrong. I was actually doing everything right. I was offering great services and products, staying in touch with my client base, doing my affirmations, etc. But the problem was that I had an internal wiring issue. I was saying I wanted more money, but a part of me, deep down inside, was thinking the exact opposite.
A part of me felt that if my motivation was purely financial, that I was being greedy, that I was not being spiritually evolved, that I was not being of service.
Well hogwash. I guarantee you that even if I achieve every single one of my intentions about money, my purpose will remain to be of service and continue to evolve personally and assist those around me in their evolutionary process.
I don’t know what your purpose is, but I would wager pretty good odds, that if you’re reading this newsletter, your purpose goes beyond financial freedom. I also have a feeling that even in your most greedy, money-grubbing state, your underlying desire is to offer your unique and valuable gifts to the world.
When I look back at my intentions I can see that even when I was supposedly setting financial intentions and goals, I was watering them down or even negating them by combining them with intentions that were less edgy for me. Here’s an example:
I intend to achieve financial freedom by offering my gifts to the world.
Come on Ed. Not only is that not specific enough to be a powerful intention, it dilutes the focus from the financial piece.
Better would be: I intend to achieve total financial freedom. That, at least focuses solely on the goal at hand.
Even better would be: I intend to achieve total financial freedom with a net worth of at least $1,000,000 and multiple streams of passive income generating at least $25,000/month.
What if I gave you permission to be greedy for the next month? Would you be able to focus on attracting more money?
I really want you to be wealthy. I want you to feel free to want money. To want lots of money! Even more than that!
I want for you the same thing that I want for myself. And as I evolve into my ability to attract true wealth and financial freedom into my life, it is my intention to create a vortex of financial abundance into which you will be drawn!
So, for the next month, I give you permission, in fact I urge you, with all of my heart, to set clear, specific and focused financial goals. I urge you, each morning when you wake up or when you get to the office to say to the Universe or God or Source or whatever higher power you call on for support, “Show me the money!” And get ready to let it in!
or Source or whatever higher power you call on for support, “Show me the money!” And get ready to let it in!
The Images of Money
“If money was a person, who would it be?”
Drew Rozell asked me this yesterday during the Inner Circle Coaching Group that he leads. When I checked in, I immediately saw an imposing, conservative looking, older man, dressed in a suit and tie, obviously wealthy, and, at least to me, unapproachable and intimidating. In his presence I felt diminished, withdrawn, and I wanted to stay that way. I did not want to be seen by this man. The thought of being seen by him made me cringe, as if his attention would make me even smaller.
It was quite an image, and quite a revelation for me. Money has never been the focus of my practice. And that lack of focus has shown up through a rather inconsistent flow of money into my life. Some months there’s plenty, other months there’s not a whole lot. Seeing this image explained why true abundance has eluded me up to now.
At the beginning of the year, I made the commitment to shift my focus more towards money. Not that money would become the reason for what I do, but that it would become a welcomed aspect and benefit of my work.
When I connected with that old, unwelcoming man image of money I knew I had some shifting to do.
Who would I replace that man with? Who would I choose to represent money?
The answer literally came running to me in meditation.
The new image of money I choose to embrace is a young boy, perhaps eight years old. He is running around a playground, blissfully enjoying the sun and the swings and the jungle gym. He is beckoning me to join him, to play with him, to revel in the wondrous innocence of childhood and the abundance of the world around us.
There is so much freedom in that image. The feeling reminds me of the scene in the movie Hook when Robin Williams finally remembers that he is Peter Pan and takes off flying out over the sea.
For me, connecting with money from a place of innocence and joy and playfulness feels so much more inviting than from a place of conservative, stodgy seriousness. After all what is money for if not to expand the ways in which I can play in this life?
So when it comes to money, from now on you’ll find me at the park, swinging on the swings and sliding down the big spiral slide and generally have a grand old time.
And by the way, this image of money asked me to let you know that there’s always room for more playmates at the park!
I hope to see you there.
