Can Blackberries Teach Us About the Law of Attraction?
I just went for a hike in one of my favorite local trails. It’s amazing that there is such a magical little spot hidden in between all the vineyards and orchards that line the hillsides around here.
As I walked, I stopped along the way to check on the blackberries brambles that stood guard on either side of the trail, blocking the way with their thorny stems.
The good news: Blackberry season has officially begun!
The bad news: We’re still at least a week away from the peak of the season.
Yes, there were ripe blackberries, though I had to search through clusters of mostly red berries to find the few ripe ones. Many of the ones that looked ripe, were actually still on the edge, I ingested quite a few not-quite-ripe berries for each ripe one I found. And even the ripest ones I found were not nearly as sweet and juicy as they’ll be in a couple of weeks.
No worries! As I like to say, “It’s all good.” And even the tart ones felt wonderful.
And as I meandered along checking the brambles, I remembered the Law of Attraction lessons I learned from the Blackberry Bramble a couple of years ago.
Here are those Law of Attraction lessons:
Desires need time to ripen just like blackberries.
It takes work to get what you want.
Sometimes you’ll get scratched reaching for your desires.
Desires have seasons.
It was a great reminder for me. Perfect timing! But then, isn’t that another lesson the Law of Attraction teaches?

And in the Bonehead Announcement By A Public Official Category
Joseph Lieberman, the chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, announced major security lapses at Federal buildings. And not only did he announce the lapses, he announced exactly what the lapses were. In essence, he told the bad guys how they could get explosive devices into those buildings.
Now, you might think that full disclosure is a good thing. I mean, now we know that our many of our medium security buildings are not all that secure. Good to know, right?
Well, personally, I think this was an extremely bad idea for two reasons. First, as mentioned, it gives potential bad guys the information they need to plan attacks. Let’s face it, the vast majority of potential terrorists are boneheads themselves. And they probably wouldn’t be smart enough to realize that they could easily get past the security in those buildings. Now they do!
Come on guys. Isn’t this sort of a “D’uh” thing? Sure, tell us that we need to tighten up the security, but don’t give out the details. That’s just plain dumb.
And the second reason this is a bad idea – and in my opinion, this is the bigger reason – is because this announcement adds to the fear that permeates our world. And the last thing we need right now is more fear.
Let’s focus on what we want more of: Peace, security, happiness, joy, love. Let’s focus on the freedom we still enjoy here in the US and elsewhere. Let’s focus on the fact that we can sit in a cafe on a beautiful, warm evening, watching people walking by, smiling and holding hands, and laughing and twirling around.
So to Joseph Lieberman, I say, “Shame on you.”
And to NPR, I say, “You know better than that.”
And to myself, I wonder, “How could I have made this point without spreading this news?”

Declare Your Independence From An Inner Tyrant
Here in the US we’re preparing for our annual Independence Day holiday. Every night this week, fireworks have blasted around the neighborhood, boats are being prepped for the trip to the lake, camping gear is packed and ready to go.
For most people this July 4th holiday has become nothing more than an excuse to drink some beer, cook some cows and blow stuff up! Gotta love it!
But if we remember the reason we celebrate this holiday it’s possible to bring some deeper meaning to the day, especially as Deliberate Creators.
This holiday helps us remember the day we declared our independence from a perceived tyrant. I wrote more about this in last year’s Independence Day post.
For most of us, certainly for the vast majority of us living in the US, we no longer have an external tyrant wielding power over us. Instead, our tyrants are within. We struggle under the oppression of the fears, doubts and limiting beliefs of our own inner thoughts.
So why not use tomorrow’s holiday as a catalyst to declare your independence from one of your inner tyrants. What fear paralyses you? What limiting belief holds you back? What doubt keeps you small?
Pick one and spend tomorrow acting as if you are free from the shackles of that fear, that belief, that doubt. Act as if you are independent of it.
Feel your freedom. And know what it is like to spend 1-day of your life free from the tyranny of that limiting belief.
And after the sun goes down, and the fireworks begin, and you hear the “oohs” and “ahhs” coming out of your mouth, remember to celebrate YOUR independence!
And while you’re at it, add your signature to the Deliberate Creator’s Declaration of Independence!
Improve Your Health with the Information in this Recording
If you are at all interested in improving your health, feeling better, increasing your energy and potentialy extending your life, you will want to listen to this free 90-minute recording with David Wolfe.
I just finished listening to this recording with David Wolfe and it is jam packed with life-changing information.
Best news: He doesn’t tell us to stop eating what we love, instead, keep eating what you like, AND add in the good stuff. Totally different advice about nutrition and wellness. And it makes sense to me.
Actually, I know that as I’ve added more superfoods and raw food into my diet I’ve naturally and easily stopped eating much of the junky stuff. Sure, I still go for a good chocolate chip cookie once in a while or an ice cream cone with my daughter on a hot summer day. But in general, as I’ve added the good stuff, I have much less of a desire to fill up on junk.
I highly recommend that you listen to this one. Hey, you can download it and listen to it with your family on your way to your July 4th weekend vacation!
